A friend told
me recently of a radio interview he heard some ten years ago, in which
Stirling Moss remarked that the advantage of losing one's hair at twenty
one is that thereafter one always looks the same age. If anyone qualifies
as ageless, it must surely be a sixty nine year old racing driver who
neatly overtakes Willie Green's Ferrari on the outside going into Woodcote
Corner, holds his Aston Martin DBR1 in a perfect four wheel drift with
one hand, as he waves a cheeky "Thanks, and goodbye!" to his
considerably younger rival with the other! A genius and a gentleman -
irrepressible, irreplaceable...
